Red Sea kite safari Where the wind is.

A week on a yacht among the islands. Every morning the boat anchors where the wind is best, and in the afternoon you ride a shallow turquoise lagoon. I’m Jája, a kiter from Czechia. I keep coming back to this safari and I’m putting a group together for the next trip.

Why a safari

From a Hurghada beach you ride where everyone is. From a boat you ride where the wind is.

Every morning the crew picks an island from the forecast and the boat anchors by its lagoon. The water is shallow, the bottom is sand, and the wind blows from the north-west almost all year. Lunch on deck between two sessions, sunset and video coaching in the evening.

  1. Day 1

    Hurghada marina

Transfer from the airport straight to the boat. Cabins, meeting the crew and a safety briefing: rules, kite zones, wind. Dinner on deck.

The safari yacht at anchor on open water
  2. Day 2

    Abu Minqar

A smaller island 8 km from Hurghada. A lagoon with shallow, calm water and a sandy bottom, good for practising tricks and freestyle.

A kiter in a shallow lagoon by a sandbank
  3. On request

    Tawila

A huge turquoise lagoon with shallow water and a sandy bottom. Entry is paid, so the boat only goes there when agreed in advance.

A shallow lagoon with kites, the water glittering in the sun
  4. Days 3 to 6

    Geisum

A long sandy beach, shallow and deeper water, freeride and waves. Downwinders to the other islands start here. Dolphins show up now and then.

An island beach with kites and the safari base
  5. Days 3 to 6

    Ashrafi

The most remote spot, 60 km north of Hurghada. Shallow water and waves, downwinders and untouched nature. Best for riders who are already confident.

Sandbanks and reefs from a drone, a yacht nearby
  6. Days 7 and 8

    Back to the marina

Last session, a group photo and the trip back to Hurghada. Breakfast, packing and the airport transfer the next morning.

The crew picks the spot every morning from the forecast. This is one possible route, not a timetable.

Is it for me?

On board you’ll find riders fresh from a course and riders who jump. The facts come from the organiser, Paradise Kitesurf Red Sea (2026).

Find yourself on the line

  1. I don’t kite (yet)

In Mohamed’s words: “Beginners and Non-Kiters are welcome on-board.” Snorkelling, wakeboarding behind the boat and morning yoga.

  2. I’m starting out

There is a 6-day beginner course on board, €600 with gear. The safari gives the most to riders who ride on their own after a course.

  3. I ride on my own

Two sessions a day from day 2 to day 6, evening video coaching and downwinders between the islands.

  4. I ride at an advanced level

Freeride, freestyle and waves with very few other kiters around. The most remote spot of the trip is Ashrafi.

What the boat offers at my level

Before you go.

Three things kiters sort out before every trip. Same for the Red Sea and the lake down the road.

Who writes here

I kite on lakes at home in Czechia, on the Baltic, Bärwalder See and Neusiedler See, in Sicily, in Hurghada and on snow.

I’m Jája. As a kid I built a paraglider out of blankets and plastic sheeting and expected it to carry me over the greenhouses. It never took off. I started kiting at 24, self-taught, with a second-hand kite in the fields near Krupka. I keep going back to the safari in the Red Sea, best of all with a group. For every trip I’d love to bring together people who have something to share on the water and off it, in AI, marketing or their own projects. I write here what I would have wanted to know when I was starting out.
