Corendon Airlines will carry your kitesurf equipment and has kitesurfing as its own line in the fee table. To Egypt and Spain, which includes Hurghada and the Canary Islands, it costs €70 per piece; on middle-distance routes it's €50. The bag can weigh up to 30kg and measure up to 86 x 120cm, up to 3m long.

This is based on the Corendon Airlines website on 25 October 2026. The table gives a price per piece but doesn't say explicitly whether it's per direction. The rules also only cover flights with numbers starting XC and XR.

The general side of flying with kite gear (packing, batteries, claims) is in flying with kite gear: airline fees and packing.

Situation Sum Return

Kite bag on a middle-distance route 2 x €50 €100
Kite bag plus a 20kg suitcase €140 + Comfort fare €140 + fare difference

The price of a fare with a suitcase shows up when you book; Corendon says fare conditions may vary by route and date. You can add up to 40kg of extra baggage per person, with 32kg maximum per piece.

Kite and surf cost the same

Kitesurfing and surfboard/water ski have identical prices and the same 30kg limit in the table. So it doesn't matter which line your board falls under.

What's different about Corendon

Kitesurfing named in the fee table

Corendon has a KITESURFING line priced the same as surfboards. That saves arguing about the category at the check-in desk. The table doesn't say whether kites and board can share one bag, though; I'd get that confirmed when booking.

Only 50 pieces per aircraft

The 50 in the table isn't a per-person limit but the total number of pieces of this kind on the aircraft. On popular dates to Hurghada or the Canaries, that space can fill up. I'd add sports equipment straight away with the ticket.

XC, XR and CD flights

The rules on corendonairlines.com apply to flights numbered XC and XR. For CD flights (Corendon Dutch Airlines), Corendon refers you to customer service on corendon.nl. The non-standard baggage page on corendon.nl lists Surfboard/Kite at €70 and excess baggage at €15 per kg in a table headed "Tarieven per 1 november 2023". It doesn't make clear exactly which flights that covers or whether the price is per direction. You'll find the flight number in your booking.

Oversize and special items

Corendon's FAQ says any item over 158cm (sum of dimensions) or any non-standard item is an "Oversize and Special Item" with a €50 flat fee. Whether that's added on top of the kitesurfing fee, the website doesn't say. I'd ask before paying.

Batteries and CO2 cartridges

  • Power banks: a maximum of 2, carry-on only, and don't recharge them during the flight.
  • Spare batteries of 100-160Wh: a maximum of 2, cabin only, with confirmation via Corendon's contact form.
  • Self-inflating life jacket with up to 2 cylinders: only with Corendon's approval before the flight.

Practical tips

  1. Add sports equipment with your ticket, as capacity is 50 pieces per aircraft.
  2. Check the flight number. XC and XR follow the Corendon Airlines website, CD follows corendon.nl.
  3. Ask 2 things: is the fee per direction, and is the €50 special item fee added on top? Save the answer as a screenshot.
  4. Photograph the bag and its contents before check-in. If anything gets damaged, the photos help show its condition before the flight.

How to pack a board, kites and bar so they survive the baggage handlers is in kite board bags and flying with your gear.

Where Corendon can take you kiting

Corendon's airports include Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt and Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria in the Canaries. Its route pages include Linz - Hurghada and Nuremberg - Hurghada, and its airport list also includes Vienna, Munich, Amsterdam and UK airports such as London Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham.

The spots around Hurghada are in kitesurfing in Hurghada and El Gouna, the Canaries in kitesurfing in the Canary Islands. On the kite safari in Egypt I go on, there are pumps and a compressor on board and a twintip costs €60 for 6 days (2026 prices), so you can leave the pump and the board at home. The kite safari packing list covers what else to bring.
