Air Arabia kitesurf equipment: fees, weight limits and how to pack

We couldn't find any sports equipment rules on Air Arabia's website on 25 October 2026: no price list, no equipment list, no mention of kites. So treat your kite bag as a normal checked bag: 32kg at most and 158cm for length, width and height added together. You pay for it like a suitcase, by the weight you pre-book.

Air Arabia's pages on checked baggage, fares, excess baggage and prohibited items, and its conditions of carriage, say nothing about sports equipment. The general side of flying with kite gear (packing, batteries, claims) is covered in flying with kite gear: airline fees and packing.

Air Arabia kite gear in numbers

What Air Arabia
Category no kite or sports equipment rules; normal checked bag
Fee checked baggage price by route, up to 90% cheaper pre-booked than at the airport
Weight pre-book 20, 30 or 40kg; max 32kg per piece
Size total up to 158cm; irregular shapes may be refused
Pieces 20kg = 1 piece, 30 and 40kg = up to 2 pieces
Notice no sports rules; ask about suitability before you get to the airport
How to add at booking, when modifying, via the call centre or a sales office
Deadline up to 12 hours before departure, 4 hours on flights to and from Morocco

Will your kite bag fit 158cm?

The 158cm limit is length + width + height. As an example: if your board bag measured 140 x 45 x 15cm, that would add up to 200cm, 42cm over. The conditions of carriage also let Air Arabia refuse a bag because of its size or shape, and ask you to check suitability before you arrive at the airport.

Chat first, then book

Here's how I'd go about it:

  1. Measure the packed bag and add up length, width and height.
  2. Message Air Arabia's live chat with what's in the bag, its size and weight.
  3. Save the reply as a screenshot.
  4. If the board isn't accepted, bring just your kites, bar and harness in a bag under 158cm and rent a board locally.

What a return trip costs

Your allowance depends on fare and route. On flights via the UAE (for example Prague - Sharjah), Basic includes hand baggage only, Value 20/30kg and Ultimate 30/40kg; your booking shows the exact figure for your flight. Pre-booked baggage prices aren't published and vary by route.

Situation Extra to pay
Kite bag up to 20kg, Value fare 0
20kg kites + 10kg suitcase, 30kg allowance in 2 pieces 0
The same on a Basic fare the whole allowance is extra
10kg extra at the airport, G9 and 3L flights, Europe region AED 700-1,000

Without pre-booking you pay per kg at the airport. On flight numbers G9 and 3L (UAE operations) a kilo in the Europe region, Czech Republic included, costs AED 70-100, and AED 60-70 for Egypt and for the subcontinent including Sri Lanka. The table doesn't say whether the Europe rate applies in both directions; if it does, 10kg extra there and back comes to AED 1,400-2,000. Air Arabia says pre-booking is up to 90% cheaper, so I wouldn't leave anything for the airport.

Air Arabia Maroc and Air Arabia Egypt

The conditions of carriage apply equally to Air Arabia Maroc, Air Arabia Egypt and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi. Air Arabia states the 32kg and 158cm limit on its checked baggage page without distinguishing between its airlines. Allowances and rates differ:

Operation Fare allowance Per kg at the airport
Flights via the UAE (G9, 3L) Basic chargeable, Value 20/30kg, Ultimate 30/40kg Europe region AED 70-100
Morocco, international flights (3O rates) Basic chargeable, Value 15/20kg, Ultimate 30kg Europe → Morocco €12, Morocco → Europe MAD 120
Egypt (E5 rates) Basic 20/30kg on CAI flights only, Value 30/40kg, Ultimate 40kg Italy → Egypt €12

Watch the deadline on Morocco flights: you can pre-book baggage until 4 hours before departure, elsewhere 12 hours. The spots are in kitesurfing in Morocco.

Batteries and CO2

Spare batteries and power banks go in your cabin bag only, protected against short circuits, with lithium-ion batteries up to 100Wh. You can't use or charge a power bank on board, and it can't go in the overhead locker.

Where Air Arabia can take you kiting

Air Arabia sells Prague - Sharjah flights and flies from Sharjah to destinations including Colombo in Sri Lanka. The spots are in kitesurfing in Sri Lanka. How to pack kites and a bar so they survive the baggage handlers is in kite board bags and flying with your gear.

With a 158cm limit, leaving the board at home makes sense. On the kite safari in Egypt I go on, a twintip costs €60 for 6 days (2026 prices) and there are pumps and a compressor on board, so a bag with kites, bar and harness is all you need.

Questions

Does Air Arabia accept kitesurf equipment?

We couldn't find any sports equipment rules or mention of kites on Air Arabia's website on 25 October 2026. Checked bags can weigh up to 32kg and measure up to 158cm in total, and irregular shapes that can't be carried safely may be refused. Ask Air Arabia before you book.

How much does Air Arabia charge for a kiteboard?

Air Arabia doesn't publish a sports equipment fee. You pay for checked baggage by weight (20, 30 or 40kg), priced by route. Without pre-booking, G9 and 3L flights in the Europe region (Czech Republic included) cost AED 70-100 per kg at the airport.

Can I take a kite as normal checked baggage on Air Arabia?

That's the only option the website describes: the kite bag has to meet the normal checked bag limits of 32kg and 158cm (length + width + height). Measure your bag before you book.

Do the same rules apply on Air Arabia Maroc and Air Arabia Egypt?

The general conditions of carriage cover them all, and Air Arabia states the 32kg and 158cm limit without distinguishing between its airlines. Fare allowances and airport rates differ: 3O flights from Europe to Morocco cost €12 per kg, E5 flights from Italy to Egypt €12.
