Condor carries kitesurf equipment as sports baggage in its boards category and spells out what's allowed: for kiteboards, up to 2 boards, 3 kites, a bar with control and safety lines and a wetsuit, all in one bag. To Egypt, Morocco or the Canary Islands it costs from €69.99 per flight if you add it in advance, or €120 at the airport.

The rules and fees below are from Condor's website on 25 October 2026. "From" prices vary by flight, and the booking shows the exact amount.

For how other airlines compare, see flying with kitesurf equipment.

Booking ahead costs less

On the same page, a general note gives an airport price of €135 for medium-haul routes including Egypt, while the boards table says €120. Condor doesn't explain the difference. I'd skip the question and add the kite bag online.

What it costs for a return trip

Option Return trip
Kite bag on a direct flight to Egypt or the Canaries, online 2 x €69.99 = from €139.98
The same, paid at the airport 2 x €120 = €240 (2 x €135 = €270 under the general note)
Connecting in Frankfurt (short + medium-haul leg), online 2 x (€59.99 + €69.99) = from €259.96, if each leg is charged
Checked bag on Classic, Choice or Flex 20kg included in the fare

For connections, Condor says baggage fees may be charged per leg. The booking shows the total for your flights. Economy Zero and Light fares include no checked bag.

Activity Card: a year of free sports baggage

Condor sells an Activity Card that covers your sports equipment on Condor and Marabu flights for a year. EUROPE (zones 1, 2 and 6) costs €199.99, WORLD (all zones) €299.99. At €69.99 per flight, the EUROPE card is cheaper from 3 one-way flights with your kite. For a single direct return trip, it doesn't pay.

What's different about Condor

A hard 30kg limit

The sports equipment limit is 30kg, not the 32kg that applies to normal checked bags. According to Condor's website, it can't carry anything heavier or bigger. You can buy extra kilos (+5kg from €39.99) for normal baggage, but not for sports equipment.

No clothes in the kite bag

Condor wants sports equipment packed separately and containing only items for the sport, explicitly no clothing. A wetsuit is on the kiteboard list; T-shirts and shorts go in your suitcase. If you pack sports gear together with other baggage, Condor charges all of it as excess baggage. Staff may spot-check and can refuse carriage if the rules aren't followed.

Partner and connecting flights

  • On Helvetic Airways and German Airways flights for Condor, the size limit is smaller: 200 x 40 x 80cm or 120 x 100 x 80cm.
  • If part of your trip is with another airline, its rules apply too, and you need to register the kite bag with it as well.
  • Sports equipment can't go through the self-service bag drop, so allow time for the regular check-in desk.

Life jackets with CO2 cartridges

An automatic life jacket with 2 CO2 cartridges fitted and 2 spares may only travel in checked baggage, and you need to register it in advance at [email protected].

Where kiters fly with Condor

Condor's main hub is Frankfurt, and it also flies from airports such as Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart, Zurich and Vienna. In winter 2026/2027, its Frankfurt schedule includes the Canary Islands, Madeira, Hurghada, Cape Town, Mauritius and Zanzibar.

For the spots around Hurghada, see kitesurfing Hurghada and El Gouna; for other options, see kitesurfing in the Canary Islands and kitesurfing in Zanzibar.

Practical tips

  • Measure the bag before booking. You have to give the dimensions, and Condor won't carry anything over the limit.
  • Weigh it at home and before the flight back. The 30kg cap is stricter than for suitcases, and a wet wetsuit adds weight.
  • Keep the confirmation on your phone, ideally as a screenshot.
  • Packing: fins off the board, kites fully deflated, bar in its cover. More in kite board bags and flying with your gear.

On the kite safari in Egypt I go on, there are pumps and a compressor on board and you can rent a twintip for €60 for 6 days (2026 prices). You don't need to bring a board. The kite safari packing list covers the rest.

Questions

Does Condor accept kitesurf equipment?

Yes, as sports equipment in the boards category. For kiteboards, Condor allows a maximum of 2 boards, 3 kites, a bar with control and safety lines and a wetsuit, all in one piece of baggage. You must give the dimensions so they can check it fits the aircraft.

How much does Condor charge for a kiteboard bag to Hurghada?

Condor's site on 25 October 2026 lists boards on medium-haul routes (including Egypt, Morocco and the Canary Islands) from €69.99 per flight if added in advance. At the airport, the boards table says €120 while a general note on the same page says €135. A return trip online starts at €139.98.

What's the weight limit for sports equipment on Condor?

30kg, with dimensions up to 200 x 40 x 100cm or 300 x 40 x 60cm. Condor says it can't carry sports equipment that is heavier or bigger.

Is the Condor Activity Card worth it for kiters?

The EUROPE card costs €199.99 and covers 1 piece of sports equipment for a year on Condor and Marabu flights. At €69.99 per flight, it pays off from 3 one-way flights with your kite, so roughly two return trips a year.
